About Fairfield History Club

On Thursday, March 19, 1925, sixteen women met to organize a club, which they called the History Club. In 1927, they became Federated and their name changed to the Fairfield History Club in 1999.  These ladies first met in the basement of the Freestone County Courthouse in the women's restroom. On each meeting day the ladies would carry their folding chairs into the basement.  Later, folding screens were installed for privacy. In 1934 they left the basement for homes and later a building of their own in 1936, then later the Moody-Bradley House in 1967.

So many projects and firsts have been accomplished by these ladies since their beginning.  The have sold chickens and eggs, fruitcakes, quilt raffles, war bonds, shares for the hospital and cookbooks to name only a few. All of this to support local needs such as a fire truck house and equipment, first library, hospital, and the Moody-Bradley House.  These ladies worked to promote safety, support the war effort, help other countries, Federation projects as well as sponsor Resolutions,  one that is nationally known!

The Fairfield History Club continues to work on grand endeavors and invites you to consider being a part by becoming a member or supporting current projects!
